Taking place from now until the end of January 1998, the LOUD Media Festival of Youth Culture and the Arts celebrates the art, culture and creativity of Australia's youth.

LOUD is taking place in four media arenas:

LOUD is open to all Australians between the ages of 12 and 25. With several projects in each arena, there are a wide range of opportunities to be involved. No previous experience is necessary - any young person can submit work to LOUD.

The festival is a national event and young people from urban and country areas are encouraged to participate.

LOUD will showcase the breadth and quality of young Australians’ art, creativity and culture.

At the same time, LOUD is an opportunity for young people to:

  • develop skills in the media and the arts
  • establish relations and contacts in the media industry
  • innovatively apply new media technologies to produce, present and distribute artistic work
  • produce and exhibit images, texts, artworks and other representations of youth culture and the arts for mass consumption.
LOUD is managed by the Australia Council and is being produced by a variety of public and private media partners

LOUD: It's the festival of the future - by, for and from the people who will be living it.
