The web is the biggest collection of information that the human race has ever put together - and even if it isn't, and that is just a fact I made up to sound good - it's certainly the most disorganised assortment of odd bits and pieces ever put together.

There is basically a few different sorts of sites, and our aim here is to catagorise them for you, so it might all just make a bit of sense.

1. The Personal Homepage. On a scale of websites, the personal homepage is the lowest of the low. Usually. It's a hastily put together bio on ones life, ideas and thoughts, all jumbled together providing poor people like me with no better category to put them in. Then, if the creator has some slight talent for design he/she sets himself up as a web designer and moves off on to bigger and better things, forgetting that a personal homepage ever existed. If he/she didn't have that talent, then they probably forgot about the site anyway, and moved off and did something else, like tormenting a cat. Either way, the net is left choked with personal homepages left as monuments to forgotten egos.

There are some which are different, however - these are usually the ones which include a biography section long enough to rival the Encyclopedia Britannica, if only they were published. I usually find these quite boring, but the other day I started reading --- bio, and was engrossed for the next half an hour. I'm not sure exactly what it is about reading intimate details of other peoples lives. Perhaps the fact that they don't believe anyone would ever be bothered reading their writing, which leads them to be more open.
