6th January 1998

How did you begin graffiting ?

Through seeing the books Spraycan Art, by Henry Chalfant and James Prigoff, and Subway Art, by Martha Cooper and Henry Chalfant.

What paints do you use ?

Krylon, Belton, what ever I can get my hands on. At the moment I have a stash of mid grey Galmet.

Have you been in trouble with the law ?

I've been arrested a few times. Done a lot of community services and had a few fines, suspended sentences etc..

Any good chase stories ?

Too many of them. Everytime we go out is an adventure. We don't know if we are going to get away or not. It's 50/50.

Do you see any differences between graffiti in Sydney and graffiti in other parts of the world ?

Every city has it's own particular style. Graffiti from Australia can be easily distinguished by graffiti artists. Australia has it's own particular style, but we have to do more big production walls, which other cities are getting into.

Has graffiti changed in Sydney over the past ten years ?

I've only recently moved to Sydney from Brisbane so I haven't been in Sydney long enough to answer that question.

Who are your influences ?

Hex, Mode2, PCP, guys from France, Italy, Barcelona, mainly from graffiti artists who do a lot of characters. Life itself is an influence, I've been through some messed up times. Living is an influence.

Have you been through art school ?

Did 6 months graphic design. I don't think art school is a necessity, I've learnt everything I know in art through graffiti. Through experimentation, and participation.

Would you want to earn a living through commercial art ?

Demote and I want to get a business up and running. We know so many artists who are doing dead end jobs, and there's so many agencies out there who don't really know what young people of today want. So we want to start a business which can cater for the young. The business should be up and running in the next few weeks. There will also be constant street art exhibitions at a gallery on Glebe Point Rd, over the next few months. The first one is underway and is call Taboo, so people who are interested should check that out.

What other interest do you have besides graffiti ?

I do a lot of break dancing with my brother. Besides that I'm open to everything. I live with an open mind. Everything is an interest.

What do you see yourself doing in 10 years time ?

Doing something artistically worthwhile.

Anything else you would like to add ?

Everyone should stay positive, and have an open mind
