During January SBS TV is screening a series of documentaries about youth culture. Highlights include: Babes on Boards (SBSI) Three Melbourne girls take off on a surf safari up the coast to the All Girls Surf Showdown at Lennox Head in northern New South Wales, the only all female surfing contest in Australia. Saturday 17th. Festivals (SBSI) Arts and music festivals are booming across Australia. From Confest to the Big Day Out, Festivals is your armchair ticket to the best of Australia's festivals. Hear the voice of festival culture and find out why punters camp out for three days in rain-sodden fields with only seven toilets for 10,000 people. Saturday 10th. Hear No Evil (SBSI) Kieran was born and bred in an outer Melbourne suburb and faces a bleak and uncertain future of dead-end jobs or unemployment. His dream is to make it as a singer with his extravagant heavy-metal band, Catwich. This documentary presents six months in the lives of the group and their small community of "misfits" who live on the fringe of suburban culture. Saturday 24th. Generation This half hour documentary follows four very different teenagers over the course of a regular Saturday night.
