from photos to poems, confessions to comics, a magazine of free style creativity from people aged12 to 25 presented by LOUD and attached to the January issue of Juice
It's in print and available as a book at record shops and comic book stores. It's also online at http://evolver.loud.org.au/nupoo Nupoo? "That's a good abbreviation, don't you think?" Sean Healy from The Pod group in Newcastle has spent the last year connecting up with zine makers across the country to get the best of underground publishing in Australia into a compendium called The New Pollution. As well as interviews with zine makers and highlights of the best writing and images - even whole pages torn out and reused - The New Pollution features a 'how to' guide to help you get started. Healy says, "Its been inspiring to see the diversity of creativity, the endless range of innovations people come up with to overcome limitations - and the humour. Everyone at The Pod feels privileged to do this overview." In The New Pollution you'll find everything from Giddyup! (about bicycle culture in Melbourne) to the rather brilliant Mavis McKenzie, which features the exploits of an imaginary 87 year old lady who writes to various corporations and figures like Pauline Hanson, republishing the best replies.
