Shakira Robinson is one of the finalists in black+white magazine's national photography competition, "Louder than words." Co-sponsored by LOUD, it's a complete gallery of previously unpublished works by young people, asked to reflect on their place in youth culture. black+white editor Karen-Jane Eyre says "the most striking thing about the entries received was their diversity and originality. The majority had really looked at our magazine and interpreted our aesthetic, so the photography had a strong art leaning that vibrant creativity we like to associate with youth. The shots were very experimental. That's reflected in the finalists we published, but a good 80% were like that - they weren't just literal representations. They were more into the realm of ideas." Finalists: Paulette Leo, Gina Belle, Shakira Robinson, Bevan Griffin, Zoe Arnott, Shannon Hourigan.,

"Louder than words" appears in (not just) black+white magazine - on sale January 29th
