Laboratory
a Piece of Stuff by pluta (jane curtis)

Cinematic concoctions of local independent short films, experimental and underground films, installations and performance art.

"What!? You can't just screen films in public with people sitting around drinking coffee and stuff!"
- Brisbane film distributor who obviously doesn't have a fucking clue

Of course you can't, maybe we'd enjoy ourselves too much...

The Universal Film Factory, a Brisbane collective aiming to celebrate experimental and underground cinema, has concocted a film event incorporating traditional, hybrid and multi-medium film experiences and experiments happening over six sessions at Secuumb Space, 3 Winn St, Fortitude Valley.

Oct 12 - 8pm sees Laboratory opening with a night of Australian short films, Oct 13 - 8pm features Warhol superstar Edie Sedgwick starring in the semi-auto biographical film "Ciao! Manhattan" (1978) screening in 35mm and on Oct 14 Secuumb Space becomes the Laboratory, bubbling and exploding with a series of experiments by local visual artists. Come early and sink into the Lab Lounge, opening each night at 7pm with inhouse DJs or bring yer beanbag later for Midnight Movies, happening each night with the cult favourites "Atomic Cafe", "The Trip" and "Female Trouble", Filmic Delights and food and drink available. Tickets for each session are $5 or $12 for a three-session ticket. For more information call 0417 796 560
