Good 80s clothes are so hard to find

80s chique

One Saturday night in March this year I finally got a copy of the early Madonna videos I've always wanted - namely Like a Virgin, Lucky Star and Borderline. I can just sit and stare at them over and over again. I'd love to be able to pull off one of those looks she had, but good 80s clothes are so hard to find.

Where did all the mesh tops go for a start?
I'd love to find a nice black mesh top. Anyway, I got to thinking, considering there'd just been a Triple Zed Market Day that day - imagine a Market Day with an early '80s theme!

No entry unless you dress early 80s - the trashier the better. Lots of colourful punk looks and New Romantic looks too. And there's a strong late 70s influence in the early 80s look. Wow!

AND THEN - just imagine with six to eight thousand people in colourful and trashy eighties clothes in one park under the bright sun - we could make the best teen movie musical!!
Loves, laughs, tragedies and triumphs played out in a Market Day scenario with strong synthesiser beats and lots of day-glo. And on the surrounding streets - street formation dancing just like in Pat Benetar's Love is a Battlefield filmclip....The bands playing would provide the background music. And there'd be people on roller skates too.

So many good looks! So much good music! Really trite plotlines!

- And all this set in Brisbane -

wow...what a dream come true
