Pizzicato Five are Japan's superstars. They are a 90's blend of cocktail lounge with zingy electronic cute samples and heavy beats. The third track Trailer music is a trippy 60's movie-like collection of spoken word and cartoony sounds. It's a Beautiful Day could only be described as mall music. I really had no idea what P5 were going to be like but was more than impressed before i was half way through the album. Somewhere between MOOG music, Karaoke and dorky late 60's + early 70's pop, P5 are big fresh blasts of chimey plucky tambourine oxygen.

Most of the lyrics are translated into English in a funky booklet. collision and improvisation is a 'jingle for your car's tires, battery, and anti freeze solution that will promise driving no matter how rough the road is.' [go figure - that's what it says in the booklet]

porno 3003: 1 music for the sofa; 2 Galaxy One; 3 It's all too beautiful [9 mins 51 sec] is fantasticallyexcellent.
if you're sick of those fancy homogenous lounge/crime/organ CD's that have hit every party enmasse... get into Pizzicato Five.
