Racial Conceit
a work of Poetry by Aliel (Virtual Reality)
I wrote this last year for an assignment i was given to explore the different points of veiw people have.
My skin is not my choice
We can't choose our parents
or our nationality
or our skin colourSo why take it out on me?
The chocolate brown of my skin
So different from your own
Builds barriers from your fear and insecurityFear of something different;
Something alien to your culture
your genes
your lifestyleIs it not so that we are all born equal?
And yet still you look down on me
And speak in condecending tones
Through a self imposed haze of ignorance
