errrr.....lets talk about postgraduate angst today, children.... a short self-indulgent rave by me.
let me acquaint you, if you are not already familiar, with the
nasty troublesome spectre of postgraduate angst...looming large in a university corridor near you. hmmm, they say The Thesis Is Out There, but its a bloody long way from where i'm standing, and now, going into the last part of a part-time honours degree it is no closer or more tangible than it was this time last year. in fact, it would be fair to say that at present it is so nebulous as to be non-existent. Self-Doubt Rules OK! i know every postgrad you talk to has the same borning angst crap about overdue, substandard theses, but wow, when you live it, you realise that goddamn, its all true! i've found this angsty affliction often goes hand-in-hand with that other all-round charmer, the ever-popular confidence crisis, and the two of them usually take great delight in producing a really bloody shite state of affairs...can't be helped by well-meaning chums telling you to get fucking over it and just do it. I for one don't intend to live my life by a corporate slogan, thanks mateyos! i'll do it when i'm goddamn good and ready (errr, sometime before june 1998 hopefully?). so there *poking out tongue*.
