Isla Fisher, actor in Australian soap, Home and Away, has made her literary debut with a tale of a young woman's rise to television fame, swept from the suburban nightmare of Borrringup to the glitz and glamour of Melbourne to star in Sunshine Coast, a soap starring every girl's pin-up boy, Daniel Hunter. Isla's 'novel' follows a pretty typical Mills and Boon/Sweet Valley High plot, with an assertive but lovelorn Jade attempting to live it up big (taking ecstasy and grooving with rock sensations The Frothing Alsatians) but finally learning that it's the sweet wholesome girl that gets the boy in the end. In a letter to her readers, Isla assures us that Jade Silver is a fictional character but that 'her experiences, in some ways, have been very similar to mine'.

An excellent read if you plan to take a long bath.

Stay tuned for Isla's next book about 'a ballet dancer who falls in love with a Hungarian gypsy' or if you just can't wait, subscribe to Isla's newsletter, 'about parties I go to and people I meet'.
