Towards a series of still images : "My life seems to always be confused, with events happening at random. At time I try and make sense of this confusion and what is going on around me.I seem to return to the point where I'm reaching out to touch something. This seems tobe the only thing that I'm ever able to know in life."

Waves : "This is a short video piece that came about while I was thinking about how water can be used to tell a story, in this case a narrative about how relationships move in waves."

Robin Petterd graduated with Honours in 1993 from the Tasmanian School of Art, in Hobart. He studied painting at an undergraduate level and moved into digital video and interactive works in his Honours year. These works explored how new technologies are changing the way people perceive the world.
Like most artists working with technology, Robin had dreams of pushing the medium in new directions. He became part of a Research program between the Tasmanian School of Art, Hobart and the CSIRO Division of Marine Research. The program explored how an artist's images making skills can be applied to qualitative scientific visualisation.
He now works as a freelance artist, designer and technician working under the name of The Other Edge. Currently he is working on helping a school build a website and a community arts projects that tells the history of central Tasmania, using the web as the medium of communication.
