Arena = Print

From full colour glossy magazines to low budget zines, LOUD gives young people the opportunity to have their say in the print media. If you find mainstream newspapers and magazines irrelevant or boring, this is your big chance to produce articles, stories, graphics, photos, illustrations - in fact just about anything that can be printed - on whatever interests you.

The best material will be published during the LOUD festival.

If you're a writer, journalist, photographer, graphic designer, poet, artist or illustrator you're welcome to contribute. It doesn't matter if you've never had anything published before, everyone is welcome to have a go. LOUD wants you to delve into youth culture, using your own words, art and attitudes.

LOUD's print media projects offer plenty of scope to express yourself:

Loudspeaker

    A special LOUD publication, LOUDSPEAKER will be about your life, your way of seeing of things - no celebrities, no hype - just the real world and what interests you about it.

The New Pollution

    A compilation of snippets from the best zines in the country.

The LOUD MAD National Cartoonist Competition

    The winner of this competition, open to all young wannabe cartoonists, will become a fully fledged MAD magazine artist.

The Stand

Disposable Art Competition

    A national photographic competition using disposable cameras.  The best photographs will be published in a special edition LOUD magazine in January ‘98.
