it like round your place? If you think your place
and your personal story are unique, why not grab
a camera and let the rest of Australia know about
it? OUR
PLACE is a documentary self-portrait series which
will be screened on national TV in January 1998,
as part of the LOUD Media Festival of Youth
Culture and the Arts.
LOUD wants
young people to make short films or videos about
themselves, where they live, their sense of place
and what happens around their suburb, town, city
or wherever they hang out. Anyone between the
ages of 12 and 25 who has access to a movie or
video camera is welcome to have a go.
Participating
stations include ABC, SBS, selected Pay TV
channels, Channel 10 with others yet to be
announced.
GUIDELINES
To be
eligible to be a part of the LOUD Our Place
Documentary Self Portrait Series you must be
- an
Australian citizen or resident and
- 12
- 25 years of age as at 30 September
1997.
Films can be
made using any format (DVC, Hi-8, SVHS, Betacam
or 16mm), except domestic video. However, all
submissions must be converted to and presented on
PAL VHS format.
Submissions
must be 3 to 7 minutes in duration.
Post
Production assistance up to $2,500 is available
for submissions selected for broadcast. Submit
your film at crash edit or rough cut (off line
edits) stage to be eligible for post production
funding. Completed films are of course eligible
to enter.

The deadline
for submissions is 1 October 1997. However, the
earlier you get your submission in, the better
your chances of being selected for broadcast.
